Regional Youth Support Services Inc. is a community based, non-government organisation providing youth work, information, referrals, case management and transitioning to independence programs for young people across the Central Coast. RYSS is a point of access on the Central Coast for high quality services and facilities specifically tailored for people aged 12 to 25 years. RYSS maintains a staff of professional support workers and arts practitioners to foster social and support networks with young people and to make available assessments, referral services and specialised skills programs and facilities.
This position is considered ‘the face’ of the agency and requires a consistent, energetic, mature minded and professional individual who is excited about being part of an agency that provides direct support to a diverse range of young people across the Central Coast region. RYSS supports front line workers with the assessment of strengths, needs and risks of children, young people and/or their family. RYSS provides appropriate, individualised and accurate information, support, resources and referrals and the development, implementation and monitoring of life/parenting skills programs for young people.
This position provides support to the delivery of RYSS programs and staff, assisting with youth and family resources, administrative tasks, and general duties as related to the support provided to clients by the organisation. A high standard of organisational skills and an orientation towards clear process and high quality customer service is key to the success in this position.
In line with the Child, Youth and Family Support Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) model RYSS aims to deliver the following outcomes:

Skills
- IT – Proficient in typing, a good knowledge of Microsoft products and web based programs, and a preparedness to undertake additional relevant training as required by the role.
- Communication – ability to communicate in a professional, effective and efficient manner both written and verbally, to ensure the message being conveyed is understood by the intended audience.
- Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate and ensuring interpretation is correct.
- Organising, Planning, and Prioritising Work — Developing specific goals and plans to prioritise competing priorities, organise, and accomplish tasks in a fast paced and complex environment.

- Monitoring — To be able to monitor, evaluate and assess the performance of self, programs, others and organisations in order to be able to suggest improvements. Current valid drivers’ licence and ability to drive a mini bus (12 seater)
Knowledge, Experience, Qualifications
- Understanding of the principles of the targeted early intervention model
- Understanding of the principles of the model of Trauma Informed Care
- Empathy for disadvantaged young people with experiences of trauma, who may present with a complexity of needs Understanding of issues relating to young people and their families, homelessness, and the concept of Early Intervention
- Knowledge of The NSW School system
- Knowledge of Local (Central Coast) services and agencies
- Formal training in Administrative-related duties
- Understanding and appreciation for the value of support and resource staff as integral to the success and smooth running of an organisation
