The RMIT University Student Union Incorporated (RUSU) is the representative body for RMIT students. RUSU represents students’ interests and undertakes a vast range of activities and services that foster an active and informed student experience. We are run by students, for students. RUSU employs 25 paid staff members and 12 student casuals, who work across diverse areas including; Student Life (Clubs, Volunteers, Events), Advocacy/Welfare, Administration, Finance, Communications and Realfoods cafe.
This Human Resources generalist position combines a wide range of HR elements that make the role equally unique and exciting. They are responsible for providing HR advice and support to RUSU Management, including the Governance & Operations Manager and the student management team, and undertaking the administrative, compliance and logistical tasks related to the employee life cycle from recruitment and on-boarding to off-boarding.
They actively support RUSU management to undertake their roles and ensures that HR and OHS organisational processes are followed within the constraints of relevant legislation, RUSU policies, procedures and the Enterprise Agreement. They contribute to the ongoing review and development of HR & OHS related policies and procedures to support best practice. They facilitate and provide support to management with leave approvals, probationary reviews, performance and other HR processes.
This role is part-time 3 days per week (21 hours). To support engagement with the staff team and the elected student representatives, work is predominately conducted onsite at our CBD offices.
The ideal candidate is an experienced and confident HR Generalist. You will be solutions focused, have exceptional problem solving, organisational and administrative skills, coupled with a genuine desire to work with students. A relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of 4 years’ experience, primarily in the community/not-for profit sector, is essential.
