About the Role
This role is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day evaluation and management of canine rehabilitation operations, while ensuring high standards of animal care, wellbeing and re-homing are adhered to.
- Assess and monitor the behaviour of canines to determine the best outcomes
- Manage and oversee staff working with canines and inmates at the Behaviour Centre located at our partner correctional facility
- Collaborate with behaviour manager, shelter manager and animal welfare and compliance to determine whether suitable for adoption
- Provide training and assessment for behaviour and rehabilitation employees against competencies
- Assist with intake, management and rehabilitation plans and provide input on problem behaviours
- Manage of a team of behaviour and rehabilitation trainers, including recruitment, performance management and rosters

About you
- Bachelor’s degree in animal science or a related discipline
- Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Training or Companion Animal Studies
- Current Class C driver’s license
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or willingness to obtain
- Experience in reading canine and feline body language
- Demonstrated experience in carrying out canine and feline behaviour modification and rehabilitation programs using force free methods and positive reinforcement training
- Experience providing advice to owners of animals with problem behaviours
- Excellent leadership communication skills both written and verbal
- An understanding of the key indicators for compromised welfare in companion animals and how to recognise these in a shelter/kennel environment
