Our Central West Shelter, based in Orange NSW, is on the lookout for an experienced Animal Attendant to join their dedicated team. You will undertake a range of Animal Attendant responsibilities, ensuring a high standard of animal care at all times. You must be motivated, energetic, reliable and willing to undertake a range of Animal Attendant responsibilities, ensuring a high standard of animal care

The successful candidate will be required to work a rotating roster, including weekends and some public holidays.

About the Role

As an Animal Attendant Superstar, you will:

  • Perform animal care tasks such as cleaning cages/enclosures; medicating; feeding; exercising; assessing animals
  • Provide basic first aid to animals where required
  • Ensure high level communication to managers and colleagues to ensure all information is provided to required parties
  • Provide high level customer service to all stakeholders, including members of the public

About You

You will have the confidence to interact with customers from all walks of life and possess the following:

  • Certificate II Animal Care or equivalent experience essential
  • Previous animal handling skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • The ability to work rotating rosters including weekends and public holidays
  • The desire to work with people to improve animal welfare outcomes
  • Initiative and ability to prioritise
  • Good organisational skills
  • Team player
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to conduct manual handling tasks
  • Resilience – the ability to bounce back from occasional setback
