About the Business

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Victoria & Tasmania operates 4 Ronald McDonald Houses and 4 Family Rooms. Our Houses have provided warm, safe environments for thousands of families with children, mainly from regional areas, under care at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Monash Children’s Hospital, Royal Hobart Hospital and other hospitals providing Paediatric services.

Our team is friendly, supportive, dedicated, passionate and proud of the work we do to support families with sick children; families that may be facing the challenge of their lives.

About the Roles

RMHC Vic & Tas is currently recruiting for casual After Hours Family Liaison Officers to join our Melbourne-based Houses at North Fitzroy, Parkville and Clayton. After Hours Family Liaison Officers provide overnight, weekend and public holiday supervision of Ronald McDonald Houses. 

The shift

Each successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity to work shifts at all three houses. It is a pre-requisite for the role that candidates are available to work outside normal office hours including overnight and weekend shifts and occasional business hours shifts to cover for staff on annual leave.

Our After Hours Family Liaison Officers work shifts that are a little different to your standard 9-5 roles. For example, a standard shift could look like;

18:00pm-12:00am – Sleepover at the house – 7:00am-9:00am

Please note the sleep portion does not contribute to the paid hours, however an allowances is provided for that period.

Key Tasks

  • Providing support to families staying at the Houses
  • Completing any administration & departure procedures & processes required such as family induction paperwork, processing of family donations/fees and any other administration duties as required
  • Ensure RMHC policies and practices are implemented and adhered to
  • Available, on-call overnight, when on site to support families and emergencies on site
  • Ensure any problems or emergencies are documented and reported to the House Manager

Qualifications & Training

  • Current driver’s license
  • Current state-based Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one
  • Certificate or diploma in management, community service or related discipline (preferred but not essential)
  • Level 2 First Aid (or willingness to complete)
  • Willingness to undergo a Police Check

Experience

  • Previous experience in customer service/hospitality, facilities management, housekeeping/cleaning or similar position
  • Experience in the not for profit sector (preferred)

The safety of the children and families we help is paramount. Our recruitment and selection process Includes working with children checks to ensure applicants suitability to work with children and families. In addition, an offer will only be made to those who pass a satisfactory Police Check.
