Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney is a 'home away from home' for seriously ill children and their families.

When families have to travel far from home to receive specialised medical care for their sick child, seeking accommodation in an unfamiliar place only adds to their stress and anxiety. Though there is no place like home, Ronald McDonald House GWS strives to provide a safe and comfortable environment where the whole family can stay together for the duration of their child's treatment.

The volunteers in our programs are the heart and soul of our House and we would not be able to deliver on our mission of supporting the ever changing needs of seriously ill children and their families without them.

The role of the Volunteer Coordinator will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy for the Chapter in line with Chapter needs and requirements
  • Research and create exciting new avenues to attract volunteers that is outside our Chapter’s current practices. eg Duke of Edinburgh
  • Develop partnerships with organisations and tertiary institutions to promote volunteer opportunities and attract volunteers to the Chapter
  • Ensuring that volunteers feel valued and engaged.
  • Design and implement a volunteer on-boarding and learning & development program for all volunteers
  • Implement volunteer reward & recognition practices including cultural development across the Chapter
  • Develop and implement a volunteer rostering framework for the Chapter, including events volunteers
  • Keep accurate records by utilising the volunteer management system to store volunteer information, manage recruitment, keep track of volunteer hours, service, working with children checks, birthdays and regular communication

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in a Human Resources or Volunteer Recruitment position
  • Experience in the Not-for-Profit sector
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills
  • Good computer skills, with a strong attention to detail
