An opportunity has arisen for an energetic and enthusiastic Senior Support Coordinator to join Queensland’s leading community mental health organisation - RFQ. This position is best suited to a professional and compassionate person who genuinely aspires to support people to live meaningful lives.

About the position

Are you looking to reduce the impact of suicide within your community? Are you committed to contemporary assisting people as they journey through recovery pathways? Are you process and system orientated? RFQ is committed to supporting individuals across the health continuum while assisting individuals navigating recovery pathways.

The Senior Support Coordinator provides practical support to individuals post a hospital presentation following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis. This unique position also provides short term therapeutic inventions during the period of engagement.

Please note Provisional Psychologists will be considered for this role but may be required to source an external primary supervisor.

Requirements include:

  • Registered Psychologist under the AHPRA or Social Worker (with Mental Health Accreditation) registered under the AASW and at least 3 years practical counselling experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people who are experiencing suicidal behaviours, suicidal crisis/ideation and their families and community
  • Ability to assess need and risk and develop and implement safety and need based support plans in accordance with STARS, the Way Back Support Service Model and RFQ’s practice model
  • A strong sense of professional boundaries and integrity
  • Current driver’s licence and access to a registered roadworthy vehicle
  • Smart phone to be used for work purposes
  • Positive Notice Card, or ability to acquire

The successful applicant

  • Understanding of suicidal behaviours, suicidal crisis/ideation and its effects on individuals, families and the whole community.
  • Those with a lived experienced with suicide are encouraged to apply.
