The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, we deliver extensive primary healthcare and 24-hour emergency service, from nine strategic bases, to those who live, work and travel throughout Queensland.

The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Practice Coordinator to be a part of the Charleville team. This position will work from our RFDS Charleville Base in a unique role as it will support health professionals who travel on a weekly basis to rural and remote locations to deliver Primary Health Care services.

In this role, you will help us to provide efficient and effective health care to people living, travelling and working in rural and remote Queensland. You will provide support in improving processes and acting as a liaison between patients, clinicians and external service providers. Some of your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Support the effective utilisation of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR). This will include providing orientation and ongoing support to clinicians using an EMR.
  • Improve data quality systems and analysis to inform patient care.
  • Effective management of incoming and outgoing information from the EMR.
  • Maintenance of the recall and reminder system and oversight of clinic appointments.
  • Support the acceptance and use of My Health Record.
  • Coordinate case conferences for patients with complex care needs.

Who Are We Looking For?

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Experience in practice management.
  • Prior experience and proficiency in using medical software including Medical Director and Pen Cat4.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Medicare Benefits Schedule and Practice Incentives Program.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent understanding of medical terminology.
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, and/or indigenous health.
  • Diploma of Practice Management is desirable.
