The Role:
This is a full-time, fixed term contract until November 2023, covering a period of parental leave. The position of Director, Communications is responsible for the management of the Communications Department, including the development and delivery of communication strategies and initiatives to enhance the fundraising, reputation and awareness of the organisation.
The Director, Communications sits as part of the organisation’s leadership team, and plays an essential role in the leaderships of the organisation, providing advice, expertise, assistance and direction to the Chief Executive Officer and Directors. Additionally, the Director, Communications leads best practice communications across print and online, driving innovation and excellence in the digital space, high quality communications to the RCH Foundation community and is responsible for brand, risk and reputation management.
To be successful:
- Demonstrable experience in developing and executing communications/marketing campaigns and fundraising initiatives, from inception to completion of a project
- Demonstrable experience managing a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrable ability to display initiative, manage priorities, manage multiple issues and projects simultaneously, take responsibility for projects and show a proactive attitude
- Demonstrable ability to build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated understanding of, and interest in, social media and the online space
Responsibilities of the role:
- Development of Communications and Marketing plans and strategies that enhance the fundraising strategies and activities of the RCH Foundation, keeping it at the leading edge of best practice
- Delivery of the strategies, which ensure high quality communications to the public, to the Melbourne Children’s campus community and to the RCH Foundation’s community of donors, fundraisers and supporters
- Communication of priorities and articulation of key messages to internal and external audiences, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and leadership team
- Strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders, by leading a proactive program of development initiatives
- Being a leader in the organisation, part of the leadership team and providing advice, expertise, assistance and direction to fundraisers on communications matters
- Development of the online environment into a leading marketing tool
