- Remuneration: $105,977 - $113,167 per annum
As Senior Program Officer, you will develop and deliver high quality onsite and statewide programs that support early literacy outcomes, value First Nations cultures including languages and celebrate the diversity of Queensland children and families. You will work with the Young People and Families team to bring together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of learning with the First 5 Forever program. This will include developing First Nations language early literacy resources and the design and delivery of culturally relevant First 5 Forever professional development for public library and Indigenous Knowledge Centre staff. You will contribute to a positive work environment by modelling conduct that is culturally capable, inclusive, respectful and ethical.
Duties and responsibilities we'll trust you with
- Developing and delivering high quality onsite and statewide early literacy programs for Queensland children and families that incorporate and value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander first languages, honour and celebrate traditional and contemporary cultures, and promote access and inclusion for all
- Participating in the high performing Public Library Programs branch in the development and delivery of sustainable, engaging and culturally appropriate First 5 Forever programs. This includes reviewing existing program materials, undertaking day to day work, achieving key service objectives and meeting organisational priorities
- Designing and developing innovative and interactive First 5 Forever program materials, supplies, guides and other resources for implementation and delivery onsite, online or in public library spaces to ensure First Nations perspectives are included in early literacy programs that are delivered through libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres
- Coordinating and/or delivering programs directly to public library clients or in partnership with public library staff. Includes activity demonstrations and facilitating train the trainer evidence-based workshops to public library staff so that they can experience the content, and understand the rationale behind delivery
- Building strategic partnerships with local and state governments, key stakeholders, public library and IKC staff to ensure that content of the First 5 Forever program is targeted, relevant and appropriate for the community and audience. This includes researching community needs, profiles, demographics, and relevant statistical datasets to inform program design and delivery
- Participating in internal committees, projects and working groups while collaborating with other teams across State Library. Providing high quality external stakeholder engagement ensuring State Library is represented in various forums including working with clients across different levels and roles
- Undertaking business improvement activities ensuring relevant government and State Library policies, procedures and guidelines meet best practice and State Library requirements. This includes a continuous improvement cycle for feedback, raising concerns and generating solutions
- Working effectively with colleagues and peers while contributing to a productive and positive work environment in times of change and uncertainty. This includes being a proactive member of the Young People and Families team in the Public Library Programs branch
- Participating in, contributing to and/or managing financial, human resource and/or ICT responsibilities as per the organisational delegations.
