ADA Australia is a state-wide, not-for-profit, independent, community-based advocacy and education service, supporting and improving the wellbeing of older people and people with disability. ADA Australia has 9 offices throughout Queensland, with its head office located in Geebung.

ADA Australia is seeking applications for a temporary part-time (.6 FTE) Side By Side Advocate. The role is a SACS level 5.1 position under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. The position is offered on a nine month, fixed-term, part-time contract basis (with possibility of extension).

The purpose of the Side By Side Advocate role is to provide information, education, representation, intake and advocacy support to Side By Side clients, that is those from Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander communities, to ensure that clients are sufficiently informed to enable them to make their own choices and have their rights and interests respected and upheld.

This is an identified position. ADA Australia considers that being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act QLD 1991.
