Project Youth, established over 28 years ago, is a Non-Government, not for profit organisation based in Southern Sydney, providing support and assistance to young people who are homeless or facing disadvantage. Project Youth's vision is to create a future where all young people can thrive regardless of the disadvantage they face. To do this Project Youth provides trauma-informed support for young people aged 12-24 who have complex needs, are at risk, come from disadvantaged backgrounds and may not be able to fulfil their potential without additional support.
Our work is in three main areas:
- Homelessness and Housing: Accommodating young people in crisis and supporting transition into independent living or returning to their family home
- Early Intervention: Intervening early to reduce and stop escalation of issues
- Education, Employment and Training: Providing pathways to employment and education
This is an exciting time to join our team as we are running new innovative programs in the early intervention sphere and strengthening our foundations.
The Role:
The role will be based in Menai, Sydney.
The role is full time 38 hours per week and is paid at SCHADS award level 7.
The Manager will report directly to the Operations Manager of Project Youth and will manage and oversee Project Youths Early Intervention programs, including drop in centres, street based Outreach, family support, family group conferencing and counselling, court support, peer education, case management programs, mentoring and schools based programs.
The Person:
The Early Intervention Manager plays a very important role in the organisation and works collaboratively with the other 2 program section Managers. We are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic and talented individual with a strong work ethic and collaborative work style, to join our team.
Essential criteria:
- Degree / Diploma in Social Work, Youth Work or other related Social Science qualification
- Drivers Licence and own vehicle
- Posses a minimum of 3 years proven Management experience
- Demonstrated experience in staff management and development
- Demonstrated experience in service management, including working to a budget
- Knowledge and understanding of trauma informed practice
- Excellent organisational and analytical abilities
- Experience in implementing service change and reform
- Experience working in the community services industry / youth work field
- Knowledge of youth related social issues and service models
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills
- Commitment to the principles of equity of access, cultural diversity, client service and accountability
- Demonstrated experience in service delivery gap identification and change management
- Experience and skills in case management
- Proven ability to maintain and build effective stakeholder relationships both internally and externally
- Excellent computer and literacy skills
- An ability to work to targets and monitor performance against KPIs
- Able to demonstrate forward thinking and using initiative
- Self-starter with the ability to juggle a number of assignments at the same time, to react quickly, to meet deadlines, to organise a busy workload and to prioritise tasks
- Experience of managing projects independently or with minimal supervision - preparing schedules and plans and delivering against them
- Ability to work with in a team and support colleagues
- Knowledge of government funding processes and relevant legislation, including FaCS Good Practice Guidelines, SHS standards, QAS accreditation, Outcomes based funding
- Understanding of EEO and WHS requirements
Desirable criteria:
- Relevant qualifications in Management
- Experience of using and analysing data from a client database
- Experience of liaising with external agencies
