Who we are looking for:

Reporting to the Employment and Skills Development Manager, this role involves leading a team of Support Professionals to successfully deliver community-based activities that focus on skill development, achieved using community resources. The focus would be to prepare people for paid employment, requiring the development and enhancement of the individual’s independence, abilities, community participation and/or quality of life, aligned to the participant’s individual goals and aspirations.

In this role you will:

  • Develop, plan, enact and supervise the development of an individualised community-based skills development service that lead towards community-based employment.
  • Develop, plan, enact and supervise the implementation of individualised developmental programs, encouraging a work practice based on ‘active support’, in accordance with agreed goals.
  • Support employees in the development and implementation of behaviour management plans, considering legal and ethical responsibilities.
  • Build capability by providing regular and appropriate performance feedback to employees and identify, nurture and source talent.

Essential skills required

  • Advanced Diploma or a Diploma of Disability.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role within a disability related community-based skill development service.
  • Experience in leading a service that focuses on individualised skills development, leading towards community-based employment.
  • Experienced in implementing NDIS capacity building supports, especially those designed to assist in prevocational skill development.
