About the Job?

We are looking to employ an experienced, passionate and talented Occupational Therapist to provide assessment and intervention programs to students in pre-school, primary and/or high school. The position may include morning, daytime and after school hours and will commence in January or February, 2024.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver sessions to develop student’s abilities in fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing, daily living skills, executive functioning handwriting and writing skills
  • Plan and implement intervention programs to improve a child’s reading, spelling and written expression
  • Plan and deliver group programs to build regulation, social skills, typing, writing and problem-solving skills
  • Use a range of evidence-based protocols, programs and methods
  • Apply positive behavioural strategies to motivate, engage and manage students
  • Conduct comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments with written reports
  • Engage in mentoring, training and ongoing professional development
  • Contribute to development of new services in line with our mission, vision and values

Essential Criteria

  • Degree or higher qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with the AHPRA and eligibility for membership with Occupational Therapy Australia
  • Minimum 2 years paediatric experience with the capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team in assessing and treating
  • Experience working with individual students or small with special needs or learning difficulties
  • Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • Valid working with children check and criminal check

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in using a wide variety of paediatric standardised assessments
  • Experience working with school age children in the area of literacy, including writing
  • Knowledge of current research and best practice
