• Temporary, full time (Maternity leave backfill), late November 2019 to mid -January 2021

About the role

The City of Port Phillip is looking for a highly capable youth services professional with strong leadership, partnership and strategy experience who can lead our Youth Services portfolio.

The (Acting) Team Leader Youth Services leads the delivery of quality programs and services for young people aged 12 to 25 in the City of Port Phillip. To deliver on the Council Plan 2017-2027 and the Youth Commitment 2019-20 and Action Plan, the Team Leader oversees both direct services delivery (by a small internal team) and externally-funded services. This mixed model of service provision is dynamic and requires a Team Leader who is able to work towards the Vision (that all young people are happy, healthy and heard) and support internal and external partners to work collaboratively to achieve outcomes for young people.

About You

In addition to suitable qualifications and experience, you will be:

• Highly knowledgeable about young people, the youth sector and experienced in advocating on behalf of these needs
• Able to hit the ground running, as an enthusiastic and effective self-starter
• Well known for your people leadership skills with highly developed interpersonal attributes that empower and engage your direct reports and other stakeholders
• Experienced in strategic thinking, having lead or delivered policy and plans in a previous (similar) role
• Keen to further develop your leadership skills and be accountable for delivery of high quality services, programs and partnerships.
