About the role

The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) seeks a suitably qualified and experienced Marketing & Community Engagement Manager to join our team on a 12-month contract. Reporting to our CEO, you will help us develop, deliver, and lead our impactful programs, campaigns, and advocacy activities.

The objective of the role is to lead a small team to develop, oversee and implement media and public relations strategies, including social media presence and online engagement. This function will also be responsible for the implementation of marketing strategies, policies, procedures, and content for all aspects of NCIE services and operations. This will be achieved through website strategic development and curation; creative campaigns, programs, and events; and member, supporter, and partner communications.

About you

NCIE’s ideal candidate will be an idea driven, outcomes focused, and proactive leader who is committed to sustainability and producing memorable experiences for the team, and clientele. This includes demonstrating and communicating the NCIE values that underpin programs, activities, and social impact. You will be proficient in using HTML, content management systems, and design software for example Adobe and WordPress.

To do this, you will have strong interpersonal skills and be confident in communicating sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people including families, community organisations, educational institutions, NCIE clients, visitors and members, pathway partners, and corporate and philanthropic supporters. The ability to gain co-operation and trust in a small team environment and collaboratively across teams and organisational units will be highly valued in this role.

Selection Criteria

  • Hold relevant tertiary qualifications in marketing or a related discipline and/or have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior marketing role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of brand management and has the ability to communicate relevant strategic decisions through effective leadership.
  • Proven ability to use digital and print marketing, content marketing, and social media marketing across a comprehensive range of traditional and new media forms.
  • Has experience in planning, and managing budgets, including ability to plan campaigns and event manage across multiple mediums, in accordance with best practice comply with approaches that mitigate event and program risk.
  • You have lived experience and/or a strong understanding and awareness of the history, culture and issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
