About the opportunity

We are seeking an individual with a passion for social justice and experience in planning and delivering community projects/events to join our team in the position of Community Project Officer - Neighbourhood Renewal on a permanent full-time basis.

In this role, you will work to address challenging social issues, engaging with residents in the Penrith LGA to respond to the impacts of disadvantage in older established communities. You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering Council’s award-winning Village Café project, working with a diverse range of people and organisations to grow community connections and support local wellbeing.

In addition, you will provide generalist project support to our Neighbourhood Renewal team, including ‘hands-on' program delivery and contributing to project planning for place-making projects, arts and cultural programs, community engagement and projects that support residents to have a voice in Council decision-making.

Essential criteria

  • Completed tertiary studies in a community, events or arts related field
  • A passion for social justice, equity and working collaboratively with community to drive positive outcomes
  • Experienced and confident in welcoming and working with people in need of support
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills
  • Experienced in planning and delivering projects/events in a community setting
  • Confident verbal communicator and an ability to write for a range of audiences
  • Current Class C driver licence

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in supporting creative/arts projects
  • Experience working with disadvantaged communities

Commencing salary: $83,269.00 per annum, plus 10.5% Superannuation.

This position requires the worker to be double vaccinated against COVID-19 or to hold a medical contraindication certificate.
