The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local

Wellways, Mentis Assist and Peninsula Health are working together to provide mental health and wellbeing supports in Frankston to ensure everyone can access treatment and care closer to home.

The new Frankston Mental Health Local will provide welcoming and inclusive support for people aged 26 years and over who are experiencing mental health challenges, including people with co-occurring alcohol and drug addiction treatment and care needs.

We are working with the local community and people who have a personal experience of mental health issues and recovery to build these services so they are the best they can be. Our services will be led by lived experience and coproduced with the local community so they are the best they can be.

About the role

Reporting to the Clinical Lead the Senior Occupational Therapist Grade 3 will be responsible for providing comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments, and therapeutic interventions to consumers, in addition to providing OT specific assessments and interventions for consumers requiring specialist OT input. Interventions may be on an individual or group basis and include all areas of occupational performance relevant to the consumers identified goals. The Senior OT will lead the social prescribing approach across the service.

The senior OT will play a significant role within the multidisciplinary team in both the clinical care for consumers and in providing support and leadership to the broader team. This will include applying a high level of clinical knowledge and skills in direct client work and through secondary consultation with team members, participating and working collaboratively on quality and safety initiatives and projects, providing clinical supervision and operational support to the Clinical Lead.

About you

  • Bachelor/Master of Allied Health (Occupational Therapy)
  • Current APHRA Registration

Requirements

  • A least 5 years’ experience in the mental health field including acute inpatient services and/or community mental health care and clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with experience. Demonstrated leadership experience including clinical leadership, participation in quality initiatives
  • Demonstrated clinical mental health and OT skills and knowledge commensurate with experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high quality outcomes for consumers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Victorian Mental Health Act 2014 and other relevant legislation
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Competency in using computer technology
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (2004)
  • Qualified/trained in specific therapeutic interventions e.g. Single Session Family Therapy, other family therapy qualifications, ACT, CBT, Mindfulness, etc
