The Australian Children's Television Foundation (ACTF) is a not-for-profit organisation and the leading body for Australian children's media, making children's lives better through screen content that reflects our culture and our values. We help produce a diverse range of children’s screen content, with shows that focus on Aboriginal, migrant and transgender children’s experiences, among many others. We also produce educational resources based on our shows that are used by schools all over Australia from Hobart to Mornington Island to Roeburne in Western Australia.

The ACTF is the leading body for Australian children's media, making children's lives better through screen content that reflects our culture and our values.

We invest in and support children's media, distribute that content all over the world, and develop valuable resources aligned with our content for the education sector. We also advocate for high quality locally produced screen content for children and respond to a wide range of related industry and Government reviews.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly experienced educator to drive our education focus. This role is responsible for leading the small education unit, overseeing a broad range of education projects, developing and managing partnerships and working with a national focus to ensure schools Australia-wide can benefit from the ACTF’s education content, resources and virtual events. It calls for an energetic, creative and future focussed person to work with the passionate and committed team at the ACTF. 

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the Australian Curriculum across both primary and secondary year levels, and deep understanding of current trends in education.
  • Experience managing and delivering a diverse range of education related projects.
  • Proven experience leading and co-ordinating teams, working collaboratively and being as “hands on” as necessary in a small team.
  • Impressive ability as a presenter and public speaker, as well as outstanding written communication skills.
  • Experience working with a wide range of education and industry stakeholders at all levels, including senior staff within state and territory Education Departments.
  • Demonstrated capacity to network and form partnerships with a broad range of educational and cultural organisations.
  • Skilled in developing and delivering virtual learning content for students and teachers.
  • Demonstrated understanding in the use of digital technologies and how they can be used in the classroom to enhance learning.
  • Practical, results focussed person who is energetic, creative and future focussed.

Desirable:

  • Experience establishing effective working relationships with teachers, subject associations and education consultants.
  • Experience supporting teachers to effectively embed the use of screen content in their learning and teaching practice.
  • Significant teaching experience and broad understanding of different education settings.
