The role

The LMS Developer will work within a dynamic team of clinicians and academics who contribute their skills and knowledge to the service innovation, workforce education and research translation initiatives and projects of Orygen. These initiatives are undertaken by Orygen’s Research and Translation division in order to grow the capacity of the Youth Mental Health workforce to improve the lives of young people experiencing mental ill health. 

To contribute to Orygen’s initiatives and projects the LMS Developer will:

  • support the development of training resources such as online learning modules, webinars, communities of practice and online forums/discussion groups
  • lead the production and delivery of webinars
  • Create and deliver reports on LMS usage data for specific cohorts to assist with planning and evaluation activities
  • Assist clinical educators in creating and editing online surveys and generating reports.
  • Troubleshoot any issues or problems arising and and communicating the solution to the end users.

This role is designed to aid the management and development of Orygen’s internal information and office systems and applications that relate to our moodle LMS.

The tasks and responsibilities of the LMS Developer will vary over time depending on the skills, knowledge and experience of the individual and the range of initiatives and projects undertaken. 

About you

Essential

  • A youth-friendly, optimistic and professional approach to work and a commitment to achieving positive change in Youth Mental Health.
  • Develop, test and evaluate Moodle based learning system from the user perspective and make modifications to functionality or design to improve the online learning experience
  • Experience with administering, maintaining and updating moodle sites.
  • Able to modify and maintain custom moodle plugins, themes and code (PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS).
  • Able to modify and create SCORM packages that can be used by the LMS.
  • Experience with online facilitation and knowledge development and delivery of online learning modules and training materials.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team, with evidence of sound conflict resolution skills.
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development: maintains and develops knowledge through access to current literature, continuing education, supervision and attendance at seminars conferences etc.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of instructional design and e-learning tools and methodologies to develop content outlines, storyboards, and scripts for e-learning modules that incorporate a range of multi-media
  • Capacity to develop effective working relationships, collaborations and partnerships with a range of services within the broader community service system.
  • Project management skills and/or experience.
  • Well developed analytical and evaluation skills
  • Experience with database development
