The Opportunity

We are looking for a Radio Manager to join our growing radio station where you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the station, including programming, production, sales, marketing, finance and administration. You will also manage and motivate a team of radio professionals, ensuring high-quality content and service delivery to our listeners and clients.

The role is a 12-month Fixed Term with the possibility of extension after such time. It is based at our studios and office in Derby, W.A. Reporting to the Board, you will manage the operations of our local indigenous Radio Station, and manage several music and multi-media projects.

The Organisation and Location

The station, which has been in operation since 1997, broadcasts a wide range of programs 24/7 as well as undertaking projects including recording local indigenous bands at our fully equipped studio/band practice facility, Graphic design, Outside broadcasts and filming major Indigenous events and Indigenous Life Stories.

DMAC's vision is to produce and immortalise all aspects of Kimberley content inspired by stories, language and life experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Derby is situated in the West Kimberley region of WA. The tidal waters of the King Sound offer excellent fishing, and boat access to the spectacular Buccaneer Archipelago. Just a short drive north of Derby on the Gibb River Road is the magnificent Wunaamin Miliwundi Ranges. Two hours south of Derby is the regional centre of the West Kimberley Broome. Derby has a population of about 3000 people and a local hospital, two primary schools, a swimming pool, an Aboriginal Health Service and a High School as well as a TAFE college.

The Person We Seek

To be successful in this position, you will have

  • Experience in Community or Indigenous radio in either a management or content creation role/or an experienced Indigenous corporation manager
  • A passion for Indigenous culture
  • The ability to oversee a range of media projects that record and promote the Indigenous culture of the West Kimberley
  • Have the ability to work unsupervised and be a self-starter
  • Developed communication and people management skills
  • Sound computer literacy

What we offer

A salary of $80,000 – $97,500 per annum pro rata is offered depending on your experience. Four (4) weeks Annual Leave and generous Salary Packaging benefits are offered.
