We currently recruiting for a Mental Health Clinician to join our headspace team. This program is funded by the PHN under flexible funding to support young people with, or at risk of, severe mental health issues.
About headspace
headspace is Australia's National Youth Mental Health Foundation. Our mission is to deliver improvements in the mental health, social wellbeing and economic participation of young people aged 12 to 25 years.
Our multi-disciplinary team of health professionals provide support to young people in the areas of primary health, mental health, drug and alcohol and vocation and education services.
The Role
You will work as part of a team to support young people with complex needs who would normally be difficult to support under the limitations of Medicare in a headspace setting. A key part of this role will be to provide evidence-based clinical mental health interventions for young people will complex mental health issues. The support provided to young people will be in conjunction with the Care Coordinator – Enhanced headspace Services, the wider headspace Taringa team and external service providers.
The positions will focus on:
- Undertaking clinical assessment and developing formulations and treatment plans for young people with, or at risk of, severe mental health issues;
- Delivering evidence-based mental health interventions to young people;
- Working and liaising with other professional stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and well-coordinated care is provided;
- Undertaking risk assessments and developing risk management plans for young people;
- Over time empowering young people to build the skills to support themselves;
- Working with young people to strengthen and enhance their capacity to become self-directed in coordinating and managing their own mental health needs and increasing their economic participation;
- Ensuring documentation and records are of a high standard and completed within reasonable timeframes.
This role is full time, current funding is until 30 June 2020.
