About the organisation

Established in 2000, the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) has grown to become Australia’s leading independent non-government body dedicated to funding national ovarian cancer research.

With the support of the Australian community, major corporate partners, philanthropic supporters and Community Ambassadors, the OCRF is now Australia’s pre-eminent charitable foundation dedicated to raising funds for the most innovative ovarian cancer research with the most significant long-term benefit for women and girls.

Through funding, advocacy, campaigns and awareness-raising, our goals are to increase the current 5-year survival rate from 49% to greater than 90%, and to provide hope, agency, support and engagement for our community of patients, survivors, families, donors, collaborators, partners and the medical research community.

About the role

The role of the OCRF Board is to provide leadership and strategic guidance, and to oversee successful implementation of the OCRF strategic plan. The Board works collaboratively and as a constructive team, offering professional, technical and/or leadership expertise, knowledge, and skills in a range of fields toward achievement of the organisation’s Objects and aims.

Meeting six times per year, with additional subcommittee involvement and fundraising events, OCRF Board directors must ensure they are able to devote sufficient time and commitment to properly perform their role and duties.

About you

The OCRF is seeking interest from individuals with demonstrated Board experience in a not-for-profit context, and knowledge of best practice Board governance and planning. All skilled professionals are welcome to apply. Professionals with experience in strategic risk will be highly considered, as will candidates with a background of oversight in research funding or grant-making.
