About us

Ballardong Aboriginal Corporation ICN 9622 is the native title service provider to the Noongar people within Ballardong Country. The Noongar people are the traditional owners of the south west of Western Australia.

Ballardong Aboriginal Corporation has an important role in the South West Native Title Settlement with the Western Australian government. The settlement resolves all native title claims in the south west of the state in exchange for around $1.3 billion in land and other benefits for Noongar people.

The opportunity

  • Work to deliver real benefits for Noongar people and communities
  • Full time position, 3 year contract.
  • Annual salary up to $180,000 (depending on experience) + superannuation.
  • Provision of vehicle
  • Location – To be confirmed (in or around Ballardong Country)

To be suitable for this role you will have the ability to engage constructively with the directors, the Noongar community, and all staff, to ensure that the strategic and operational goals of the corporation are met.

Selection criteria

  • Senior management experience in a corporation, NGO, or related government agency.
  • Ability to form strategic relationships with key stakeholders and the Noongar community
  • Excellent track record working with a board of directors to deliver team strategy and implementation plans
  • Ability to engage with funding bodies, strategic partners, and community organisations to deliver successful outcomes
  • An expert understanding and experience in the application of the principles of corporate governance
  • Relevant qualification and/or experience to fulfil the responsibilities of the position
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead, encourage and constructively manage the staff of the corporation
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills to build and maintain key relationships including the ability to organise, coordinate and chair meetings and mediate in a cross-cultural context
  • Strategic approach to develop an organisation’s capability by delivering change and commercial development
  • Advanced leadership and influencing skills built on a strong level of self-awareness of own leadership styles used, leading teams and influencing external stakeholders
  • Effective team building, community engagement and staff management skills
  • High ethical standards
  • Current drivers licence
  • Previous experience as CEO of an Aboriginal Corporation
  • Previous experience working with the Noongar community
