We are seeking a non-judgemental person with a high level of professional skill to lead the delivery and expansion of our telephone advice and advocacy line, PeerLine. ORGANISATION
NSW Users and AIDS Association (NUAA), a peer-based drug user organisation. We work with people who use or have used drugs and people who are engaging with health services. Our staff identify as people with lived experience of drug use. NUAA’s mission is to improve the health, human rights and dignity of people who use drugs. We focus on reducing the stigma and discrimination experienced by people who use drugs and address the criminalisation of drug use by working with a range of partners to support system change. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide professional and evidence-based support to PeerLine contacts (community, health professionals and others) either via phone or email in accordance with established protocols
- Build relationships with a variety of people and services to develop referral pathways and services connections
- Develop a promotional strategy for the service and work with the NUAA organisational services team to deliver on this strategy
- Develop and execute service evaluation at least annually
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
- Experience working in the Alcohol and Other Drug Sector including experience supporting people seeking treatment access and advice
- Practiced in using lived or living experience to support people with issues related to illicit drug use
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute moderately complex project involving external stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders including consumers, service providers, community groups, welfare agencies and government officials.
- High level of computer Literacy, Microsoft Office suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, and in particular working with online platforms and databases
- Experience working with people in crisis, who may present with complex or challenging behaviours, in a supportive non-judgmental way.
Desirable
- An intimate knowledge and understanding of the NSW Opioid Treatment Program from a consumer perspective.
- Previous experience developing and maintaining health and community services database.
