North Stradbroke Island Aboriginal & Islander Housing Society (the Housing Co-op) provides long term housing for Aboriginal residents on North Stradbroke Island. Housing also manages Minjerriba Respite Centre, Nareeba Moopi Moopi Pa Aged Care Hostel and the Myora Caravan park.

The Human Resources Officer has the responsibility of delivering HR advisory and support services to the General Manager along with members of the management team (as directed by the General Manager).

The position is required to follow established policy procedures and practices, designed to ensure consistency and compliance of HR documentation and activity across the organisation, as well as to provide ad-hoc support, advices and referrals where appropriate.

Selection Criteria:

1. Tertiary qualification in Human Resources / Industrial Relations.
2. At least 2 – 3 years’ experience working in a HR department having gained experience and exposure to policy / procedure and compliance for quality purposes.
3. The ability to research and interpret Awards and classification levels, contractual requirements and documentation and provide advices, recommendations and drafts accordingly.
4. The ability to identify problems with HR processes / procedural matters at the operational level, and to design solutions through engagement, policy and training where appropriate.
5. The ability to guide the management team towards appropriate, legislatively accurate and compliant HR practices, through enquiry, diplomacy and relationship development.
6. Ability to work autonomously and often with minimal direction.
7. Impressive organisational and administrative skills, including working knowledge in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of software.
8. Demonstrate a professional and corporate level of written and verbal communication skills.

• Maintain a current drivers licence.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• 3 yearly police checks and licences reviewed annually and kept up to date
