Aim of the Service
North Queensland Domestic Resource Service (NQDVRS) provides a culturally appropriate, respectful and holistic response to people affected by domestic and family violence and abuse. Our vision is to create a community that is free from domestic and family violence.
Purpose of the position
To lead on the coordination and delivery of domestic and family violence programs across the service ensuring efficient and effective support to clients in line with regulatory, legislative and contractual obligations. The position has line management responsibility and will provide timely and appropriate advice and support to the Leadership Team and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Organisational Relationships
The CEO has responsibility for the Team Leader on a day-to-day basis. The position works as a member of the Leadership Team and is accountable to the CEO and through this person to the Management Committee.
Appointment
The Team Leader is appointed on a permanent full-time basis and is expected to work across the organisation. Flexibility of hours may be negotiated to meet operational needs.
Key Requirements
- Human services degree (or 5 years’ experience in a similar field will be considered).
- Experience working with a large staff team and leading on service delivery across multiple programs.
- Experience line managing and supervising staff, providing direction and specialist practice advise.
- High level demonstrated understanding of domestic and family violence contemporary practices.
- An understanding of the gendered analysis of domestic and family violence and a commitment to a feminist vision for the service.
- An understanding of, or experience working with, Human Services Quality Framework, Service Agreements and Funding Schedules, Practice Principles and Standards and Regulatory Frameworks.
- Advanced communication skills with the ability to provide high quality written and verbal information and produce documents to a high standard such as Practice Manuals, funding applications & reports.
- Experience in supporting the development of systems, processes, reporting and auditing functions.
- Demonstrated high level of skills and experience in communication, negotiating, problem solving, risk management, influencing and relationship building.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Deliver services from a feminist analysis and understanding of the gendered nature of domestic and family violence.
- Ensure all services are provided in a culturally appropriate and respectful way.
- Operationally responsible for the delivery of domestic and family violence services to clients in a confidential and empowering manner.
- Line management and supervision of staff, including monthly supervision, annual appraisals, providing specialist practice advice and coaching to ensure service requirements are being met.
- Leadership responsibility for coordinating service delivery across program areas, ensuring efficient and effective support to clients in line with practice standards and service requirements.
- Undertake safety and risk assessments and maintain accurate case notes in Customer Relationship Management system or any other required system.
- Maintain up to date expert knowledge pertaining to the areas of service responsibility and lead on the implementation of changes to ensure evidenced based practice in conjunction with the CEO.
- Meet reporting requirements and support accreditation under the Human Services Quality Framework and provide assistance to the CEO where identified.
- Support the development of new systems, processes or changes to delivery models working in collaboration with the CEO.
- Actively participate in network meetings, reporting back to the organisation and implementing necessary actions.
- Deliver, in conjunction with other staff, community education and training to other services and in the broader community.
- Work as part of a Leadership Team, modelling behaviours in line with Service Values and on occasion lead on organisation wide Operational Plan deliverables.
- Assist in the Coordination of human services student placements and provide supervision (or coordinate same).
- Model good WHS practices and share leadership in the compliance of relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
- Participate, chair and organise staff meetings as required.
- Operate within a continuous improvement framework, implement strategic goals, meet key performance indicators, and participate in regular supervision/one to one with CEO.
- Participate in professional development as approved to ensure evidenced based and contemporary knowledge and skills.
- Work within the Policy and Procedures of NQDVRS.
- Assist in overseeing the general upkeep and maintenance responsibilities of the facility where requested.
- Undertake any other duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the service.
