If you would like to work for a highly recognised feminist organisation in the human services industry with a supportive team of professional women, we are seeking your application. We currently have a position available to the 31st December 2023.
North Queensland Combined Women's Services Inc. also known as The Women's Centre, comprises a Sexual Assault Support Service, a Specialist Homelessness Service and a Women’s Health Service that provides counselling, group therapy, support and information, for women experiencing the ongoing effects of violence and trauma.
The Sexual Assault Support Service is also an integral part of the Townsville’s Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). Unique to Townsville, SART is an innovative model of support for survivors and is the first of its kind set up in Queensland. The service provides a collaborative, holistic and wrap-around model of care offering support to survivors of sexual assault 24/7.
In addition, the Women’s Centre operates a Social Enterprise to support women in the community, and improve their opportunity for employment.
Suitable applicants require social work, social science or psychology tertiary level qualifications. Skills and experience in the areas of sexual assault and domestic and family violence, counselling, mental health and advocacy is desirable. It is a requirement of this position to participate in our 24 hour on-call roster as a part of the Sexual Assault Response Team.
The remuneration package:
It is a genuine occupational requirement of this position that it be filled by a woman as permitted by, and arguable under Sections 25, 104 and 105 of The Anti-Discrimination Act 1991. First Nations women are encouraged to apply.
