the opportunity

Newtown Neighbourhood Centre seeks a motivated and dynamic team leader to coordinate a diverse portfolio of homelessness and adjacent services. ​​Based within the Homeless Outreach Team this role strengthens Newtown Neighborhood Centre’s ability to provide a coordinated response to vulnerable members of the community and to people currently or formerly experiencing homelessness.

It involves providing leadership to a small team of case managers in the Together Home program, coordination, and project management of the Newtopian volunteer assertive outreach program and providing oversight to the Centre based Information and Referral Service. ​ 

We are looking for someone who has: 

  • A commitment to the values of Newtown Neighbourhood Centre 
  • Experience in developing and fostering good case management practices 
  • Demonstrated experience in developing service responses and project work 
  • Considerable experience of working directly with people experiencing homelessness 
  • Experience in developing and supporting staff members and volunteers 
  • Skills in developing strategic, collaborative and impactful stakeholder relationships 
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or similar field or equivalent experience 
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity issues and working in a culturally inclusive framework 
  • Knowledge of WHS, EEO and Anti-Discrimination legislation 
  • Current valid NSW drivers license

About the Opportunity

  • Full time, 35 hours per week with flexible working hours
  • Salary: SCHADS Level ​6
  • Salary Packaging available, potentially increasing take home pay​
