Northern Beaches Women's Shelter (NBWS) are looking for a quality professional Senior Caseworker, to support women and children in our crisis accommodation service. This role needs someone who has 3 years minimum experience and worked in the community services sector in a related role. The position is 20 hours per week for a 6 month contract period.

NBWS supports homeless women to rebuild their lives, providing crisis accommodation, support, safety and services for homeless women across Sydney's Northern Beaches.

NBWS provide individual case management, outcomes-based approach, assisting women to access permanent accommodation and community support systems and services.

Our goal is identifying and addressing the underlying root cause/s of each individual woman’s homelessness addressing factors leading to homelessness include physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse; family breakdown; financial strife; domestic violence; addiction; mental health issues and/or lack of affordable housing.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  1. A minimum qualification requirement of a Diploma of Community Services / Social Work or related fields.
  2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Senior Case Management Role.
  3. Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with clients experiencing crisis and provide appropriate, trauma-informed support.
  4. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  5. Understanding of the intersectionality of issues related to homelessness; such as domestic and family abuse, mental health, drug and alcohol, gambling and financial challenges.
  6. Excellent communication and computer literacy skills.
  7. Current Working with Children Check and NSW Police Force Criminal Record Check.
  8. Current First Aid Certificate.
