About the organisation
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated person to work for Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation (NBAC). The role is full-time (35hrs) and is based at one of our Penrith offices within the Western Sydney area. NBAC provides Family Support Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families in the Western Sydney/Nepean Blue Mountains communities as well as Out of Home Care placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who cannot remain at home due to abuse and/or neglect.

Tasks & responsibilities
The Restoration Program provides culturally appropriate intensive casework, inclusive of comprehensive assessment and support, to children, their families and carers so as to achieve successful restorations.
The service targets the Greater Sydney Metropolitan covering Central Sydney, North Sydney to Sutherland, La Perouse to the Inner West. As well as Greater Sydney West Region covering Auburn to Mt Victoria, Wisemans Ferry, Penrith, Blacktown, Merrylands and the Blue Mountains.
NBAC Pay Scales (Above Award Wage)
- PM1– PM10
- $114,040 - $129,877 (Package includes leave loading and Superannuation)
Qualifications & experience
- Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised in Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
- Qualifications in Community Services or relevant field.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in restoration, Out of Home Care, child protection or similar field.
- A minimum of two years management experience or experience in supervising staff.
- Knowledge of issues surrounding abuse and neglect of children and the impact of trauma and children protection.
- Knowledge of issues pertaining to the Stolen Generations and transgenerational trauma.
- Experience in working in partnership with other services/agencies to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
- High level of oral and written communication skills and demonstrated report writing and use of Microsoft office programs including word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Have a high level of organisational skills.
- Demonstrated experience in the implementation of audits (compliance and practice).
- Ability to use a data collection program and provide reports to senior managers as required.
- Be available to team members and carers on a flexible basis outside office hours, including some weekend work and on call duties.
- Ability to prioritise workload and delegate appropriately.
- Work in a supportive and constructive manner with the Narang Bir-rong team.
- Demonstrated experience in engaging with stakeholders in a complex and diverse environment.
- Mature outlook and well-developed communication (interpersonal, verbal and written) skills.
- Evidence of at least two COVID-19 Vaccinations.
- Probity checks including NSW Working With Children Check and National Police Check.
- Current NSW driver's license and use of a registered and insured passenger vehicle.
