  • Canberra based role
  • Full time, fixed term position (12 months)
  • Salary Band Range: $83,607 to $104,446 per annum plus superannuation 

The Team:

The Certification Policy and Development Team oversee a number of core functions and projects within NAATI. Staff within this teamwork across Design, Development and Training, Certification Test Material Production, Intercultural and Ethical Competency Training and Testing, Certification Policy and Research Development and the Indigenous Interpreting Project. 

the role

The Development & Training Officer will work as part of a team responsible for supporting the improvement of NAATI's testing, assessment, and developing certification materials that meet NAATI standards. The role will also support the design of NAATI's test format and the validity and reliability of testing and assessment procedures.

Applicants should possess the following:

Essential

  1. Excellent planning, administrative and organisational skills, and the ability to respond to queries and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  2. High-level oral and written communications skills, including presentation/facilitation skills.
  3. Proven ability to research and analyse issues, synthesise information and prepare accurate and timely reports.
  4. Well-developed skills with Microsoft Office and the ability to work with databases.
  5. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment.
  6. Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  7. Expertise in Conference Interpreting and/or Specialist Interpreting.

Desirable

  1. Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant area (Language, linguistics, translating, interpreting or testing/assessment and evaluation).
  2. Knowledge of NAATI business context and objectives.
  3. Experience working with individuals and groups representing diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  4. Some understanding of a range of statistical techniques and experience in conducting multivariate statistical analyses. (valued)

Work conditions and salary are based on the NAATI Enterprise Agreement 2020-2024.

Salary will be within the range of $84K to $90K plus super and dependent on experience.

This position is only open to Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents in Australia.
