About the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA):

The North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency Ltd (NAAJA) provides criminal law services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through the Northern Territory. We have offices in Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs. We are recognised as a leading legal service and have received national and local human rights and crime prevention awards for our work.

About the role:

Under the supervision of the Managing Criminal Solicitor – Top End, you will provide high quality legal advice and representation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people charged with criminal offences, and in addition, undertake work aimed at overcoming the disadvantage suffered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth in conjunction with other staff.

About you:

We have a fantastic team of highly-skilled solicitors, client service officers, and administrative staff in our criminal teams in Darwin, Alice Springs and Katherine. We are seeking exceptional applicants for a position in our Criminal Section, with an ability to start in ASAP.

The successful applicant will thrive in a busy criminal law practice and work well as part of a team. You will be committed to fighting for justice for Aboriginal Territorians and have a demonstrated knowledge of criminal law, with a capacity to provide high-quality, culturally relevant legal services to clients in criminal law matters.

You will also have high-level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and clients with complex needs.
