the role

NAAJA are currently seeking Senior Civil Solicitors to join our Civil Law team. The position will be based in the Darwin, Katherine or Alice Springs offices.

NAAJA’s civil law practice is an extremely busy and diverse one, with practice areas including police and prison accountability, child protection, adult guardianship, consumer, discrimination, housing and tenancy, social security and victims of crime assistance claims.

NAAJA seeks appropriately qualified legal practitioners who have the personal and professional attributes to be a successful member of its Civil Law Team, in particular in the following roles:

• Consultant Lawyer, Police & Prison Accountability Team
• Deputy Managing Lawyer – Katherine Office
• Senior Lawyer – Child Protection & Family Law

The position entails regular travel to remote communities to conduct Civil Law Clinics and may include overnight stays.

The right candidate will have:

• A commitment to providing access to justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
• Skills in cross-cultural communication and an ability to work with a diverse team
• 3 to 5 years post-admission experience in civil law is highly desirable

The positions offer the following attractive employment benefits:

• Salary of CiLO 3.2 $93, 669 – CiLO 4.4 $111,174 per annum, dependent on experience + superannuation
