Who are we?
We are a government funded organisation which recruits, supports, advocates for, and trains carers for children and young people who are, or were, in the out of home care system.
To be considered for and ultimately be successful in this role, you will need to have:
Essential experience
- Background working with children or family in the out of home care system and the Permanency Support Program
- Cultural competence and proven track record in working with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Specific skills
- Demonstrated Case work management with accurate record keeping
- Superior listening skills, ability to identify core issues quickly and accurately
- Ability to maintain a calm, empathic and professional disposition during critical incidents and agitated client calls
- Problem solving skills
- Confidence using data bases and recording case notes into a digitized system
- Ability to apply sound judgement and make decisions which impact the welfare of others
- Telephone communication skills: sound understanding of and ability to articulate clearly in the English Language
Qualifications
Essential
- Experience with the Permanency Support Program
Desirable
- Bi-lingual
- Degree qualified in Social Work, Community Work or similar, or equivalent Human Services qualification and experience
- Contact centre/helpline experience
- Track record of converting prospective suitably qualified Carers into Foster care professionals

Due to the term of this program, the role will be engaged on a fixed-term basis of up to 2 years, with an opportunity for extension, subject to program renewal.
