VCGS, a leader in diagnostic testing, is expanding its dedicated team to enhance patient care through top-notch Laboratory Services. We are currently seeking passionate individuals to join our Customer Care Group, making a difference in healthcare.

In this dynamic role, you will primarily serve as a courier within VCGS' service area, covering Metro Melbourne, Greater Geelong, and the Mornington Peninsula. Your responsibilities include timely sample and material pickups and deliveries to clients such as medical practices, pathology laboratories, and hospitals. Our courier team collaborates to ensure results are delivered within agreed turnaround times.

During non-courier hours, you will contribute to our logistics department, performing tasks like sample kit preparation, order fulfillment, creating shipping documents, taking phone bookings for courier services, and stock management. Your daily responsibilities will vary depending on workload and operational requirements.

This position offers an exciting blend of courier duties and logistics tasks, providing a well-rounded work experience.

If you are looking to be part of a forward-thinking team, dedicated to advancing healthcare, we invite you to apply for this unique role. Join us in delivering excellence in Laboratory Services at VCGS.

Courier Responsibilities:

  • Efficient Specimen Deliveries: You will provide effective and efficient backup delivery of specimens from ultrasound practices, pathology laboratories, and hospitals. This includes both regular routes and ad-hoc deliveries.
  • Material Delivery: In addition to specimens, you will deliver a range of materials, including request forms, specimen receptacles (e.g., collection kit boxes), and forms to our clients as required.
  • Meticulous Tracking: Tracking is at the core of our operations. You will be responsible for the tracking of specimens, whether through manual signing or electronic means like barcoding, utilising handheld scanners to ensure every item reaches its destination.

Logistics Responsibilities:

  • Sample Kit Preparation: You'll be responsible for preparing sample kits, ensuring they are meticulously organized and ready for use.
  • Order Fulfilment: You will play a key role in packing and sending patient/client orders, ensuring timely delivery to their intended recipients.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Effective communication is critical. You'll liaise with both internal and external stakeholders, including courier companies and medical professionals, to ensure a smooth and coordinated logistics process.

About you:

  • Sound Geographical Knowledge: Your comprehensive understanding of Melbourne and its surrounding areas is essential. Navigating efficiently and choosing the most optimal routes is a core part of your role.
  • Excellent Communication: Effective communication is key to our operations. You'll interact with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, colleagues, and courier companies. Your ability to convey information clearly is vital.
  • Time Management: The healthcare industry demands timeliness. Your skills in time management will be crucial to ensuring that specimens, materials, and orders are delivered promptly and securely.
  • Highly Developed Interpersonal Skills: Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including medical professionals, requires excellent interpersonal skills.
