Are you passionate about precision, excellence, and delivering top-notch customer service? VCGS Laboratory Services is on the lookout for a talented Customer Care Operator to join our dynamic team!

As a Customer Care Operator, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and customer service goals of VCGS Laboratory Services. Your responsibilities will span from taking ownership of specimens to performing a diverse range of specimen handling and administrative duties.
As a Customer Care Operator, you'll be stationed in the heart of our specimen reception area. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Specimen Ownership: Take charge of all specimens received at VCGS. This involves reaching out to internal and external laboratories, addressing queries, and ensuring alignment with VCGS and NATA requirements.
  • Administrative Excellence: Engage in a spectrum of specimen handling and administrative duties. This includes accurate triaging, rapid registration, prioritization, and precise execution of all specimen reception tasks. You'll also handle specimen sorting, labeling, distribution, and logging.
  • Multi-Faceted Support: Contribute to additional duties such as troubleshooting, managing "add-ons," and administrative tasks. You'll be part of a versatile team, adept at handling a wide range of tasks and processes to support the diverse requirements of our laboratories.
  • Systems Proficiency: Demonstrate familiarity with various tasks, especially patient data entry, clinical information, and test requests in our LabWare LIMS. Ensure adherence to standards outlined in the Specimen Reception Management Policy & Procedure Manual.
  • Quality Assurance: Verify that incoming specimens and request forms align with the specified standards, maintaining the integrity of our processes.

About you:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent desirable
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a NATA accredited high through-put pathology specimen reception
  • Ability to work independently or within a team as required
  • A conscientious and responsible approach to laboratory support work
  • Critical eye for detail

Victorian Clinical Genetics Service (VCGS) is a not-for-profit subsidiary of the Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) and provides a wholly integrated genetic testing, diagnostic and counselling service for health professionals, patients and their families across Victoria, Australia and globally.

Our clinical geneticists and genetic counsellors work in close consultation with our medical scientists to provide the most accurate interpretation for complex genetic tests. VCGS also plays a pivotal role in research and development, driving translational research and policy development in the field of genetics.
