ABOUT THE MISSION TO SEAFARERS VICTORIA (MtSV)
The heritage-listed Mission to Seafarers building (c.1917) on Flinders St in Docklands serves a special place in the life and community of those who live and work at sea.
Australia relies on shipping and seafarers to connect to the world and to bring goods to our homes for the economy to thrive, and for the health of our island nation. MtSV provides welfare services to support the tireless work and hardships faced by those seafarers.
MtSV is a registered charity, and income derived from events and bar sales ensures that the dedicated team of staff and volunteers can continue to provide comfort, a friendly face, and a sense of community to the tens of thousands of seafarers who visit the Port of Melbourne annually.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of the Mission to Seafarers Victoria as a venue for events and social gatherings ranging from live music performance and theatre to weddings and community celebrations.
This role primarily involves serving in the bar, providing hands-on coordination of functions and events, seeking out event hire opportunities and developing in-house events.
As a public facing role, your friendly and helpful manner will set the tone for both seafarers' and the public's experience and ensure that everyone feels welcome and safe in our venue.
To thrive in this role, you will have substantial hospitality, and/or events experience and ideally some experience in a live performance venue and/or function setting.
