About the role
We have an ambitious vision – to accelerate the transition to the sustainable, resilient social landscapes of the future. We bring an evidence-based and data-driven approach to understanding and planning how nature can improve the liveability and resilience of the natural and built environments. We provide advice to a range of clients including public sector agencies, private industry, and not-for-profit organisations.
The focus of the role:
Mosaic Insights leads the social sciences practice within the Alluvium Group. As part of the ongoing development of our business, we are looking for a talented consultant to play an integral role in our social sciences practice area, and increase business focus in South East QLD.
Our social science practice seeks to help decision makers and agencies to:
- Understand the social dimension of technical issues and solutions
- Present multiple lines of evidence to inform decision-making
- Take stakeholders and the community along on the journey of change
- Clearly communicate the imperative to act and what action to take
- Adaptively learn from what has worked and not worked in the past
What you will be doing in this role:
- Work on a range of Alluvium Group projects involving our social sciences practice area, with a focus on Natural Resource Management, liveability and resilience. These projects require the application of social research methods, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, program evaluation, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, social impact assessment, policy analysis, strategy and program development, stakeholder engagement and communications.
- Work with leading applied scientists and engineers across the Alluvium Group and our partners on challenging and meaningful projects that directly affect the future of our urban and rural environments.
- Help to shape and grow our city shaping offer and build on our existing portfolio of our social science in Natural Resource Management.
- Help build our company’s profile as leaders in the application of social science in developing healthy and sustainable urban and rural landscapes.
- Contribute to the delivery of projects on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of our clients.
Skills, experience and our offer
Essential skills you need for the role:
- Social science expertise and experience implementing social research methods
- Tertiary qualifications in the social sciences or closely related discipline
- An understanding of parks, environment, water and natural resource management
- A strong passion to improve how cities and rural landscapes work for communities and the environment
- 5+ years of professional experience
- Project management skills
- A confident communicator, able to present information in a concise and engaging manner
- Demonstrated initiative and drive
- An eagerness to help build our social science area of practice
- Willing to travel interstate and to regional areas for short periods (when permitted)
- Able to legally work in Australia (we will not consider applicants who require visa sponsorship)
Other desirable skills and experience:
- Prior experience in professional services consulting
- Experience related to the sustainability of communities in areas such as urban design, public health and liveability
- Established networks within our sector
- The ability to interrogate and draw insights from large data sets relating to contemporary concepts, including liveability and resilience
