About the role

The Mornington Peninsula Shire Youth Services team provides a mix of evidence-based and community informed initiatives that aim to protect and support the health and wellbeing of all young people aged 10 to 25 on the Mornington Peninsula. This support is delivered through a multi-layered and collaborative approach that is driven by the voice of young people, localised data and the expectation of our Council and the community.

Youth Services is underpinned by a commitment to a “No Wrong Door” service philosophy. No Wrong Door sees young people at the centre of service delivery. No Wrong Door is an active commitment to engaging with young people and working to ensure that each young person receives appropriate and adequate support for their needs, regardless of the door they enter into in the service system. As a result, services provision needs to be flexible and responsive to the diverse needs of young people.

The ideal candidate

You will be required to work as part of an effective team that supports young people through a variety of prevention and early intervention services including one-to-one individual support, group programs and activities community and special events, volunteering opportunities, health promotion, community development and personal development.

You will have a tertiary qualification in youth work, social science or youth recreation as well as experience in recreation programs for young people, running personal development programs, event management and the provision of case work support.

A current Victorian driver’s licence and Working with Children Check are required to undertake this position with experience working in the local government sector, a Certificate in Training and Assessment and a Level 2 First Aid certificate highly regarded.
