The Environment and Sustainability Policy and Planning Department sits within the Planning Directorate and takes a lead role in developing the strategic environmental and sustainability policies to deliver this outcome. The Sustainability Planning branch is responsible for developing policies, plans and strategies and undertaking projects and initiatives to address key policy areas such as sustainability, climate mitigation, energy and carbon management and environmental management system requirements. The branch also has a coordination role for efforts to reduce Council’s emissions and work towards our net zero by 2039 target for Council’s operations.
You will provide technical advice and undertake allocated sustainability, environmental, climate change and carbon management project activities, to meet the needs of the council and community within the City of Moreton Bay.
You will foster professional and effective relationships, working collaboratively and proactively with key stakeholders (internally and externally) to ensure projects, initiatives and services are achieved and to deliver safe, practical, and sustainable outcomes.

We are seeking a passionate team player with a good understanding and technical experience across the fields of either or a combination of, sustainability, environmental planning, environmental management systems, climate change mitigation, carbon accounting or strategic planning, including relevant qualifications within those fields or similar.
