  • This exciting position will oversee Moonee Valley’s first multimillion – multipurpose community hub. You will be leading from the front to strategically drive venue management ensuring smooth operation of all moving parts across the facility.

The Opportunity

Moonee Valley City Council have an exciting opportunity to plan, lead and manage the operations of the new multimillion-dollar Djerring Flemington Hub, including preparing for its opening in mid-2023. Using a mix of community development and venue management approaches, this role will be responsible for positive community outcomes and the smooth operation of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Djerring Flemington Hub team strategically to ensure that outcomes are aligned with those outlined in MV2040, Moonee Valley City Council’s long-term plan.
  • Working within Council’s management framework, lead the planning, co-ordination and implementation of the governance structure, operating model and user agreements for the venue.
  • Manage venue operations, OH&S and risk management processes and procedures, and manage key stakeholders, to ensure the Djerring Flemington Hub is a thriving, high-quality community venue.
  • Coordinate the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of community development programs and activities offered out of the Djerring Flemington Hub, using a place-based approach.
  • Attract and retain new users for the facility, diversifying and maximising usage of the venue.
  • Manage tenders, license and lease agreements and contracts associated with venue operations, room hire and management.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting systems, statistics and financial analysis to ensure venue operations and finances are tracked and reviewed annually.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in community development and/or relevant business qualifications with experience in facility management.
  • Significant experience managing a multipurpose community hub, or equivalent commercial facility, including its day to day operations, user group agreements and budget oversight.
  • Extensive knowledge of best practice community engagement principles and community development frameworks and processes, along with demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of community programs, projects and events.
  • Experience in developing strong, effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including those from a CALD background.
  • Experience in financial resource management, report writing and venue business planning and reviews.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and develop staff effectively.
