The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to be part of Monash’s ambitious Revitalising Informal Settlements and their Environments (RISE) action-research program – a large-scale real-world experiment trialling nature-based, water-sensitive solutions for improving sanitation and access to clean water in urban informal settlements.

Bring your outstanding operational management skills and passion for impact to bear as the Senior Program Coordinator and provide a range of complex coordination and program management services to support the RISE Program.

In this pivotal role, working closely with the Program Manager, you will serve as a critical liaison point between the Program, university and internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the RISE Program in alignment with the Program’s strategic goals and priorities.

With a background in water, environment and/or public health, you will hold a central role as a subject matter specialist and a source of specialist, strategic advice, and will oversee and support a range of complex field sampling, laboratory, analytical and construction activities across RISE’s participating settlements and partners in Makassar, Indonesia and Suva, Fiji.

This exciting parental leave replacement opportunity will also see you building and sustaining effective working relationships with a network of internal and external contacts to facilitate communication and support the team's objectives.

Supporting the Program Manager, you will coordinate and manage a wide range of tasks, services and processes, including:

  • Reporting and briefing preparation
  • Contract management
  • Purchasing and procurement
  • Human resources
  • Budgeting and accounts
  • Logistics
  • Executive and governance support
  • Stakeholder liaison
  • General administration
  • Events and safety
  • Water quality monitoring
  • Central point of contact for the transdisciplinary action-research program

Prior experience working in a water (particularly water sensitive design), environmental and/or public health context in an Asia-Pacific context is desirable as is experience in a transdisciplinary or multidisciplinary research context.
