The Opportunity

Monash Law Clinics provide a range of community legal services and programs conducted by legal practitioners and supervised undergraduate and postgraduate law students. These services are conducted both to demonstrate the Faculty's professional capability and community commitment, and to provide a structured professional setting through which students can gain clinical experience in professional practice.

Monash Law Clinics is seeking to appoint a Director to assist in the delivery of the clinical legal education program for students and the legal services provided to the community. The Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the operations of Monash Law Clinics (MLC) and is an important leader of the Monash Clinical Legal Education Program.

Reporting to the Associate Dean (Experiential Education), the Director acts as a key driver for identifying opportunities to enhance the legal service’s offerings through securing various government funding, supporting Faculty curriculum development and best practice in clinical legal education.

To be considered for this role, you will have significant experience in the practice of law and in advocacy on behalf of individuals and communities. You will have experience in legal practice management, preferably within the community legal sector, evidence of high quality activity in research, advocacy and law reform and a demonstrated ongoing commitment to such activities, and proven excellence in the development of students or junior practitioners, including a commitment to providing high quality learning experiences.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
