Our Journey

Our Emergency Department at Casey Hospital in Berwick, services the communities and surrounds of Casey and Cardinia. With around 80,000 presentations to the emergency department each year, Casey ED is undergoing an expansion. Part one of our expansion is the modular development providing twelve negative flow cubicles for our SCOVID/COVID respiratory patients. As part of this expansion we are doubling our resuscitation capacity. We currently support the community with the following:

  • 25 general cubicles able to cater to a variety of patient presentations including a dedicated paediatric stream.
  • 26 short stay beds to facilitate flow and treatment for our patients.
  • A Behavioural Assessment room
  • We have 5 Ambulatory care rooms with consulting rooms and specialty procedure rooms including plaster/ procedure and ENT rooms.
  • We have an Intensive Care and Coronary care facilities on site. Onsite access is currently available to Special Care Nursery and Paediatric services and with the expansion to the hospital; patients will also have access to an Intensive Care Unit.

A day in the life of a Registered Nurse in ED.

You’ll enjoy the variety and challenge that comes from working with skilled senior staff and clinical mentors, while being supported by the leadership team across the program and across our large, complex health service. Your work will include:

  • Patient centred provision of excellent care to our patients presenting to our Emergency
  • Role modelling and mentoring likeminded employee’s and working within the team collaboratively
  • Participating in quality improvement across the program to support best practice

We have ongoing full and part time opportunities 24/7 rotational roster and would support a minimum of 0.6EFT up to full time.

What you bring

You are a Registered Nurse with a positive attitude who loves to laugh and enjoys being at work with likeminded nurses. You share this passion for nursing through demonstrating your skill and knowledge with your patients while donning a smile. You love the adrenaline charge that this type of nursing brings – every day is exciting! This is why you chose to be a nurse after all!

Along with this, you have proven experience working in an Emergency department and/or demonstrated skills in an acute/critical care setting.

Post graduate studies would be highly regarded.
