An exciting opportunity exists for a psychologist to join us in the Monash Health Community Youth and Family Team, Forensic Mental Health in Community Health (FMHiCH). FMHiCH provides clinical services to clients on Community Corrections Orders or parole who have a mental health condition on that order or parole. Our aim is to deliver high quality care that promotes individual client's self-efficacy, independence, and community integration. A Day in the Life

This role includes working with complex clinical formulations, such as trauma, depression, anxiety, and interpersonal vulnerabilities. The psychologist supports people who have the following presentations, which fit under the definition of as “mild to moderate” mental health including but not limited to, depression, anxiety, trauma and ADHD. Please note the psychologist does not treat perpetrators of sexual abuse. The psychologist provides outpatient clinic-based appointments around four per day, participates in staff meetings, clinical reviews, and psychology peer meetings. The psychologist conducts risk assessment, safety planning, and appropriate referrals to crisis services when needed (e.g., Psychiatric Triage, 000, etc.). The psychologist, offers secondary consultation advice and support to the team and referrers regarding collaborative formulation, treatment options, ethics, and referral pathway advice. You will enjoy the challenges of working with the complexities of mental health to improve individual quality of life and to make a positive difference every day. You will work closely with a range of mental health and health services to effectively co-ordinate client care. This opportunity will see you enjoy a balance of working autonomously and as part of a team, with access to high quality clinical supervision being offered.

What you need:

  • General registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  • Appropriate post-graduate qualifications (Masters or Doctoral degree) in Clinical or Forensic Psychology in an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited course
  • Hold AHPRA endorsement in Clinical or Forensic psychology, or working towards endorsement
  • Experience working in Mental Health/Forensic settings
