The Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service - Monash Health (VPRS-MH) is a dynamic service with dedicated, highly skilled interdisciplinary team that works closely with the broader Monash Children’s team to provide specialised paediatric services. This unique role will afford a skilled Grade 3 Physiotherapist to join the VPRS-MH team specialising in Hip Surveillance.

A Day in the Life:

The Grade 3 Physiotherapist in Hip Surveillance will provide advanced practice physiotherapy services to children and adolescents with cerebral palsy and ‘like’ conditions as part of the Victorian Cerebral Palsy Hip Surveillance Network (VCPHSN). The Grade 3 Physiotherapist will be based within the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service at Monash Children’s Hospital and, working collaboratively with parents/caregivers and other health professionals, be responsible for providing strong clinical and professional leadership to facilitate hip surveillance for children attending Monash Children’s Hospital and living in the South-Eastern/Eastern regions of Victoria.

By working in close collaboration with local and regional medical and allied health staff, they will facilitate hip surveillance in local communities and regional areas. They will provide support and mentorship to staff implementing hip surveillance within the VPRS Monash Health, Eastern Health and Latrobe Regional Hospital teams and ensure that hip surveillance services are innovated, evidence-based and provided in a family-centred context.

This role is 2 days per week and flexibility is offered for the right candidate.

What you need:

  • Current registration with the AHPRA
  • Bachelor of Physiotherapist or Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapist) or equivalent
  • Relevant Paediatric physiotherapy clinical experience.
  • Previous experience in conducting hip surveillance for children with cerebral palsy and ‘like’ conditions, including independent evaluation and reporting of pelvic radiographs for this purpose.
  • Post graduate qualification in paediatric Physiotherapist or other applicable area, or working towards is desirable
  • Experience assessing musculoskeletal problems for children with cerebral palsy in an advanced practice physiotherapy setting is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision and education of junior physiotherapists, and education of those in other allied health and medical professions is desirable
  • Member of Australian Physiotherapist Association including involvement in Special Interest Groups is desirable
