South West 2 is undertaking a transformational change as we reopen the ward, post pandemic response, to service 20 general medical inpatient beds. South West 2 is seeking a Nurse Manager wishing build and up skill a newly established team. As a unit, we are seeking a Nurse Manager (NM) who has experience in the clinical development of staff, improving patient experience and open to innovative and collaborative ideas.

About The Role

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Operations, the NM is a leadership role, responsible for the clinical and operational outcomes of the unit and managing employees clinical progression through workforce management and strategy. The NM will proactively contribute to Monash Health's vision of providing "exceptional Care and outstanding outcomes" to our general medical and procedural medical services. With exceptional communication and people management skills, the NM will lead by example to inspire their team to perform at their best whilst working collaboratively and in partnership with key stakeholders.

As NM you have accountability for financial and human resource management as well as engaging in risk mitigation strategies through implementing service improvements and applying innovative models of care. As NM, you hold membership in Ward Governance Committees, represented also by Medical, Pharmacy and Allied Health Leads. You will be required to attend organisational committee meetings and be responsible to implement and respond to identified clinical gaps in accordance to the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.

This is a full-time ongoing position, working Monday to Friday.

About You

You have been developing your managerial and leadership skills or you are an accomplished Nurse Manager and are wishing to build a new team within a large and dynamic Health system. You thrive when working in a fast paced environment and are passionate about delivering a high quality of evidence based care. You communicate clearly and effectively, and are able to build rapport and engage others to deliver outcomes in a timely manner. You are a respected member of the team and advocate for Monash Health's Strategic Guiding Principles. You thrive on continuous improvement and ideally hold or are working toward a Post Graduate Certificate, Diploma, Masters in Clinical Leadership and Management.

You Also Have:

  • Demonstrated management and leadership experience, ideally in a similar role
  • A high level of proficiency in a range of technological solutions
  • Time management, superior communication and influencing skills
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Genuine thirst for learning and open to further study
  • A committed to proactively support colleagues at all levels as well as a mentor for the team
  • Experience in consumer engagement within the hospital setting
  • Undertaken or have assisted with quality improvement projects supporting the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards
  • Experience in the management of complex patients, patient flow and employee management.

What You Need:

  • A relevant Post Graduate Qualification
  • Clinical experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Clinical leadership and management in a hospital setting
  • A willingness to learn and grown your leadership capabilities through commitment to be a representative of the nursing workforce at committee meetings
  • Australian working rights
