Permanent positions are currently available for both Grade 2 and Grade 3 Psychologists (0.6 to full-time EFT negotiable) with the Monash Health Gender Clinic. Incumbents will provide specialist psychological services for clients experiencing gender incongruence. The positions are based primarily at the Victorian Pride Centre in St Kilda, with occasional work at other Monash Health sites as required.
Monash Health is Victoria’s largest public health service. We are proud to provide healthcare to one quarter of Melbourne’s population, across the entire life-span from newborn and children, to adults, the elderly, their families and carers. More than 22,000 employees work at over 40 care locations across south-eastern Melbourne, including Monash Medical Centre, Monash Children’s Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital, Kingston Centre, Cranbourne Centre, and an extensive network of rehabilitation, aged care, community health and mental health facilities. The Monash Health Gender Clinic is a state-wide service that provides client-centred care for transgender, gender diverse, and non-binary (TGDNB) people, especially those seeking medical gender transition. The Gender Clinic comprises a specialist team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social work, peer work, research and administrative staff.
Gender Clinic psychologists provide clients with comprehensive assessments consistent with WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) Standards of Care. You will contribute to client management plans as a valued member of a multidisciplinary team. Grade 3 incumbents will also provide supervision as appropriate. Opportunities include involvement with our Consumer Advisory Panel, research and quality activities. Reasonably flexible working hours and arrangements are accommodated, including a mixed model of telehealth and on site work, and the option of a Saturday clinic at weekend rates.
You identify as an ally or member of the LGBTQI+ community, with an awareness of cultural sensitivities in this community. Experience in working with the TGDNB (trans, gender diverse and non-binary) community is desirable but not required. Experience working in mental health settings is also desirable, in particular experience working with clients who have a history of trauma or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Your ability to communicate adaptively and effectively is essential, along with excellent time-management. You are evidence-based and client-centred in your approach to clinical work.
