About Us

Biala is a 20 bed Acute Inpatient Unit that provides Assessment and treatment to people over the age of 65 with psychiatric illness and/or significant behavioural problems associated with dementia. Biala services the City of Kingston, Middle South Area.

Our staff use specialist skills and programs that are tailored to address individuals’ psychiatric, psychological, medical and spiritual needs and to ensure the best possible outcome.

We are a standalone site for ECT therapy which is conducted on site along with Research work undertaken in conjunction with Monash University.

We currently have an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to work in an Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) role, to coordinate the multidisciplinary team to conduct ECT treatments across 3 days per week.

The ECT Coordinator is a role that will allow you to influence and lead the day to day running of the suite, ensuring the highest of standards are achieved in all aspects of care.

This important position works closely with the inpatient and community based services of the Aged Persons Mental Health Program, also Monash Health anaesthetics, and psychiatrists. The scope for your innovation, and providing advice and coaching is immense.

About you

As an experienced Mental Health Nurse looking to take the next step in your career, you have demonstrated skills in conducting ECT treatments and coordination of team. You have people leadership skills, able to manage day to day operations, staffing and client care within Mental Health in either an Aged, Mental Health or Hospital team based setting.

This is an excellent career path for a suitably qualified professional with advanced clinical skills who is committed to leading by example. What you need

  1. Current AHPRA registration
  2. Proven clinical experience – substantial experience within Mental Health
  3. Post Graduate Qualifications in Mental Health
  4. Aged Mental Health experience an advantage but not mandatory
